Arthur Gelber - Founder
Art Gelber founded Gelber & Associates' in 1990.
Mr. Gelber has been an active participant, on behalf of clients, in the natural gas futures market since the opening of the contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) in April 1990. Through Gelber Group LLC and OriginEight Capital Management, he is fully licensed by the National Futures Association (NFA) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
A geophysicist by training, Gelber developed his commodity trading and risk management acumen under the tutelage of Brian Gelber, his brother, who is a globally recognized commodity trader whose skills have been noted in the best selling book "Market Wizards." Mr. Gelber maintains a close association with his brother's firm The Gelber Group, based in Chicago.
Early in his career, Mr. Gelber served as a global crude oil trader for Conoco.
Gelber also worked as a geologist for Mitchell Energy and as an associate engineer for Gulf Oil. In Australia and New Zealand, Mr. Gelber's commercial pursuits included oil and gas exploration and market opportunities for the sale of production. Mr. Gelber received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo., and his Master's degree in geology and geophysics from Rice University in Houston.
Since founding Gelber & Associates, Art Gelber, has become recognized as an industry leader in the development of procurement and risk management techniques for natural gas and power. He is widely quoted in all major industry publications and business journals.
